OUR MISSION

The Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York, a not-for-profit corporation, works to improve the fiscal responsibility, efficiency and effectiveness of the fire district management through education, training and advocacy for commissioners and other fire district officials in the 57 counties outside of the City of New York.

2019 AFDSNY Commissioner Training

Congratulations to all Fire District officials that were elected or re-elected in December 2018 or who may have been appointed in January 2019. Now that a new year has started, it's time to think about your NYS  "Required Training for Commissioners of Fire Districts" that was signed into law and was effective Jan. 2007.  The training must  be completed within two hundred seventy days of taking office.

The AFDSNY offers the required NYS commissioners training in two formats: scheduled in-person classroom training in different regions and on-line training that can be completed as your personal schedule allows. Both in person classroom and on-line training programs have been revised and includes all of the most recent legislative changes.
