NYS Gov. Hochal Signs Bill to Extend Remote Meetings
NYS Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation [ S7623A ( GAUGHRAN) - A8591 (THIELE)] Jan 14th In response to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic to extend previous modifications to the open meeting that expired Jan 15th.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 - amends part E of chapter 417 of the laws of 2021 to allow
public bodies to meet remotely by conference call or similar service, so
long as the public has the ability to view or listen to such proceeding,
and provided such meetings are recorded and later transcribed.
Section 2 - authorizes the act to take effect immediately and expires upon
the expiration or termination of the state disaster emergency declared
pursuant to executive order 11 of 2021 or any extension or modification.
