Passing of Region 6 Director James J. Havernick Sr. (updated)

It is with extreme sadness that the Association of Fire Districts announces the passing of Director Jim Havernick following a brief illness. Jim was a brother, a friend, a mentor and sounding board for all of us. Jim was dedicated to his family, his fire district and the good of the entire fire service in NYS. His countless hours of service and dedication will be missed but never forgotten. Our thoughts and prayer go out to Jim’s beloved wife Cindy and the entire Havernick family.  Arrangements will be shared on the AFDSNY website as soon as they are available. Rest in peace brother Jim, we will take it from here. The world and fire service are a better place because of the time you shared with all of us. Thank you for being our friend.
